COMPOUNDING FILTERS

Back to Glossary Index

When two or more filters compound with each other in a PowerBI report to produce an overall filter result unintended by the user (usually all blanks). When two or more filters are applied simultaneously the report will return data that fits the criteria for both. Example: a report level filter of the last 7 days that also has a page level filter of the current month will only show the last 7 days on every tab. Example #2. Filtering Date to 25 Sept 2017 while simultaneously filtering Month Year Short = Jan 2016 will result in blank data because the two date parameters are mutually exclusive.
