How is Seen-By counted in Yammer and tyGraph? There are a number of ways that a user can generate a "Seen by" event for a Yammer thread. In this article we will explain all known scenarios we have seen that generate a seen by event from our experience comparing hundreds of networks.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Definition
Seen by is the total unique users who have rendered a thread past the like button. This measure is not available at the user level, only at the thread level.
Seen by is very easy to trigger, Yammer will trigger this event within 1-2 seconds of it being rendered on your screen. Clicking on the thread has no bearing on seen by as it is triggered before the user selects anything.
Views from other Platforms
Users viewing Yammer threads from other platforms are counted in most cases. You can usually tell because Yammer will show the seen by icon in the web frame.

Liking the conversation from Outlook will also automatically render a seen by even if you haven't navigated away from the email to mark it as read.
Not Counted
Mail App will not generate a view because it renders the thread notification in this static form.
